Microcoulometry has traditionally been used to measure chlorine content in VGO (vacuum gas oil) and VLSFO (very low sulfur fuel oil) to ultimately adjust or reduce it for the sake of optimizing the product. However, due to safety concerns associated with microcoulometry, a growing number of labs and refineries are turning to a safer technique – Monochromatic Wavelength Dispersive X-ray Fluorescence (MWDXRF).
